The Firmen Group, LLC was founded by Richard Bays, JD, MBA, RN, CPHQ. One of the primary missions of the firm is to aid in navigating the complex regulatory requirements of the healthcare industry.
Within the labyrinth of healthcare regulations, Medicare Fraud and Abuse continues to be a growing concern to the federal government and taxpayers. CMS estimated that approximately $65 billion in improper payments was paid through Medicare and Medicaid combined in a recent fiscal year. These issues are frequently tied to malpractice which results in grave harm to the patient population. One of the firm’s focus areas is assisting in the reduction of health care costs and improving the quality of care by preventing fraudsters from preying on people with Medicare and Medicaid. Mr. Bays has provided litigation support for State & Medicare violations which has resulted in settlements reaching multimillion dollar recoveries and effecting improvements to a safer delivery of care for patients seeking treatment.
Mr. Bays has served in numerous capacities in the healthcare industry ranging from clinical services and operations to administrator of surgery centers and hospitals. He has assisted medical device companies with streamlining their processes and supply chains which provided capture of multimillion dollar waste.
His experience includes healthcare bill & policy consultation, medical- legal consulting for healthcare attorney groups and oversight of accreditation, licensure and regulatory compliance programs.
In the state of Texas, Mr. Bays has implemented quality assurance tracking programs for the City of Austin, developed and taught educational programs for the Texas State Department of Health Services, and served as a Legislative Advisory Committee member for healthcare House and Senate bills.
He is a frequent speaker at numerous conferences and has published articles on healthcare regulatory issues nationwide.
